Current USA and Western Europe’s Concern for the Economic Security of Turkey
         

Turkey is poised to become a member of the European Union.  It is already a member of NATO.  The USA has supported Turkey’s admission into the EU.  Turkey has supported the USA in the War on Terror and operations in Iraq.  However, the EU does not fully support Turkey’s admission because of its support for Islamic causes and that it is not a “Christian country”.  There are other problems based upon Turkey’s past history with the Kurds, Armenians and Cypriots.
